HEED Foundation Educates Students on Genotype at Asokore SDA JHS
As part of its commitment to promoting health education among young people, HEED Foundation organized a genotype awareness and education session for students of Asokore SDA Junior High School.
The interactive session focused on helping students understand what genotype is, the different genotype types, and the importance of knowing one’s genotype early in life. Students were also educated on sickle cell disease, how it is inherited, and why genotype testing is essential before marriage and family planning. The outreach encouraged students to share the knowledge with their families and to make informed health decisions in the future.
The presentation included engaging discussions, questions and answers, and practical examples that helped students appreciate the importance of preventive healthcare. By equipping the students with accurate information at an early age, HEED Foundation aims to contribute to reducing the incidence of sickle cell disease through education and awareness. Similar school-based education efforts are widely encouraged in Ghana as an effective way to improve genotype awareness among young people.
