The Health, Education and Entrepreneurship Development (HEED) Foundation is set to commence the construction of an ultra-modern state of the art Research and Technology Hub at Asokore-Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The facility, which will take about six months to complete will have an Information Communication Technology (ICT) Suit, a Digital library, and a multipurpose conference auditorium.
The Chairman of the HEED Foundation, Dr Adae Amoako disclosed these when the Foundation ended its free Health screening exercise to round off its routine activities for the year at Asokore-Koforidua. The health screening exercise saw people screened in diseases such as Blood pressure (BP), Sugar (Diabetes), Breast Cancer and other general health related issues with medical doctors on hand to offer consultation and where possible prescribe treatment.
Dr. Adae Opoku Amoako reiterated that the idea behind the establishment of the Foundation was to help the youth develop their potentials through Education and Entrepreneurship development. He explained that these objectives will only be possible when the youth are health conscious of themselves and that of their environment they live in. This, Dr. Amoako revealed, informed the concept behind the HEED Foundation about two years ago.
The US based Ghanaian medical doctor said, the completion of the Research and Technology Centre will give an enormous boost to the educational needs of students in the town. According to him, the Centre, which will be one of a kind, will be one of the many legacies of HEED Foundation in its bid to help promote and bridge the ICT gap as well as incentivized the culture of reading and research among the student population in the town and other neighboring towns.
The HEED Foundation, since its inception in 2016, has given both educational and entrepreneurship support to students and young people who desired to learn vocational skills respectively, while organizing periodic health screening for people in its catchment areas. ‘’over the course of the years, the Foundation has been able to help Junior High School students with scholarships as well as enrolled people into vocational training to ensure that they are well placed to continue their education and have a decent living after the completion of their trade’’, Dr. Amoako stated. He assured that the Foundation will continue to support the aspirations of brilliant but needy students and young entrepreneurs who need support to make their dreams come true.
