The Health Education and Entrepreneurship Development  (H.E.E.D) Foundation completed its first screening of the 2019 year at the Asokore Palace at Asokore a town in the Eastern Region iof Ghana. The event saw the participation of over 100 residents in the local community coming in to check their blood pressures and glucose levels. The main goal of the event was to identify residents who are at high risk of developing hypertension or high blood pressure and diabetes but also to let the community know the presence of HEED at Asokore. There were over 15 HEED volunteers that showed up to check blood pressures and glucose levels. The core of the group was made up of several nurses and health personnel. The chief of the town Nana Antwi Panyin II graced the event with his presence by coming in to get his glucose and blood pressure checked. Some of the participants expressed their gratitude for having to experience such an event since most of them do not go to their doctor or hospital regularly. There were a few participants who were identified as high-risk and were sent or directed to the local hospital to get a full examination. Two of HEED‘s newest volunteer Ms.  Annette Jackson and Ms. Lawrenda Donkor indicated they had sense of fulfillment in giving back to the community.
