Accra – Ghana, September 22nd –
The Health, Education, and Entrepreneurship Development (H.E.E.D). Foundation, on September 22nd and 23rd 2018 conducted a health screening at the Accra Polo Club as part of the Accra Food festival. The Accra Food festival saw over 1500 people from different parts of the world come to the venue over the two days of the celebration. The HEED team of health volunteers checked weight, blood pressure, and glucose.
The exercise was to identify participants who were at risk for developing diabetes, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases based on their numbers. Several participants at the event were screened.
There were health care personnel on site to advise at risk individuals. Those that needed further evaluation were directed to the appropriate clinic or hospital
One of the new health volunteers, Ms. Comfort Nkrumah, a nurse based in Winneba summarized her experience as; “this was a great experience as we got to screen people from different countries. I hope to continue to volunteer for HEED Foundation for years to come.
