Koforidua (E/R),  Mar 10 – Figures from Ghana’s Narcotic Control Board indicate that about 50,000 people particularly the youth are engaged in drug abuse in Ghana. What is more even worrying is the fact that these drug users can be found in all the 275 administrative districts in all the ten regions of Ghana.

It is against this backdrop that the H.E.E.D. Foundation preceded its grand launch of its activities with a workshop on drug or substance abuse for the youth in Asokore-Koforidua, a suburban town in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The workshop which attracted a mammoth youth audience mostly basic and junior high students had the chairman of the foundation Dr. Adae Opoku Amoako lecturing participants on all the facets of drug abuse ranging from the dangerous drug or substance types, its consequential effects on the health of the user and more importantly how to curb or minimize the menace in the town.   There was question and answer session where audience could field questions answered by Dr. Amoako.
